Hattingen → Menden
The Ruhrhöhenweg links Hattingen and Menden on a ridge-focused route above the Ruhr valley — one section of the roughly 240 km Ruhrhöhenweg between Winterberg and Duisburg maintained by the Sauerländischer Gebirgsverein. It follows a mix of forest paths, local walking tracks, and connectors between settlements on the hills flanking the river, waymarked with a white X on a black background. Towns at regular intervals make stage planning and resupply straightforward on this multi-day section.
