Trekking Armory

§ INTEGRATIONS — MCP

Claude and ChatGPT

Connect your account to an AI assistant and plan a trip in conversation. The weights, forecasts and routes come from Trekking Armory, not from the model.

§ SERVER URL

https://api.trekkingarmory.com/mcp

A remote MCP server with OAuth sign-in. It works with Claude, ChatGPT and any MCP client that supports remote servers.

What it does

The assistant chooses and explains. Every number it quotes comes from a tool call against your account and our catalog.

  • Suggest equipment for a trip: your own inventory first, then the lightest catalog items that suit the weather.
  • Find community trails, and create new ones routed along real paths through the places you name.
  • Check a backpack against an adventure event: the forecast for each trip day, checklist coverage and lighter gear you already own.
  • Create backpacks and change them item by item.

Connect

You need a Trekking Armory account. You sign in on this site, so the assistant never sees your password.

Claude — web, desktop and mobile

  1. 01Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
  2. 02Name it Trekking Armory and paste the server URL.
  3. 03Choose Connect, sign in to Trekking Armory and allow access.

A connector added on the web is also available in the desktop and mobile apps.

Claude Code

Add the server from a terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http trekkingarmory https://api.trekkingarmory.com/mcp

Then run /mcp in Claude Code, pick trekkingarmory and choose Authenticate.

ChatGPT

  1. 01Open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
  2. 02In Apps & Connectors choose Create, name it Trekking Armory, paste the server URL and choose OAuth for authentication.
  3. 03Sign in to Trekking Armory and allow access. In a chat, pick the connector from the tools menu.

Developer mode is a ChatGPT web setting and is not available on every plan.

Other MCP clients

Point any client that supports Streamable HTTP at the server URL. It discovers sign-in by itself: OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, through dynamic client registration or a client ID metadata document.

Sign-in and access

When you connect, the assistant opens a Trekking Armory page that names the app and the access it asks for. Nothing is shared until you choose Allow.

Read
See your backpacks, gear inventory, trails and adventure events.
Write
Create and change your backpacks and trails, and choose the backpack you bring to an event.
  • It cannot delete anything, publish to the community or change your profile.
  • A connection renews itself while you use it. One left unused for 30 days expires, and the assistant asks you to sign in again.
  • Assistant access works only through the MCP server. The rest of the site's API does not accept it.

Tools

18 tools in four groups. Read tools never change anything. Weights are in grams, temperatures in °C, distances in km.

  • get_inventoryRead

Read the gear you own, with weights, counts and expiry dates.

  • get_weather_forecastRead

Daily weather for a trip: the forecast within about 16 days, recent years' conditions further out.

Check a backpack against an event: weather per day, weight, checklist coverage and lighter gear you own.

  • assign_backpack_to_eventChanges

Set the backpack you bring to an event.

Try asking

Start a chat with the connector turned on. For example:

  • What should I bring for a three-day hike in the Carpathians next weekend? Use what I already own first.
  • Find a two-day trail in the Tatras under 30 km.
  • Create a trail from Zaroslyak to Hoverla and on to Pip Ivan, and save it to my trails.
  • Check my pack for my next event against the forecast and suggest lighter swaps from my inventory. Then make the swaps.

Data and privacy

  • The connector reads and writes only your own account, within the access you allowed. Trails it creates stay private until you publish them yourself.
  • Your conversation stays with the assistant. Trekking Armory receives only the tool calls and what they carry.
  • Weather comes from Open-Meteo, which receives a trip's coordinates and dates, never who you are. Routing and place search run on our own servers; if the router is unavailable, a route's waypoints may be sent to openrouteservice.org instead.
  • To disconnect, remove the connector in the assistant's settings. To have us revoke the connection on our side as well, write to [email protected].
  • The privacy policy covers the rest of the site.

Limits and support

  • Every tool needs sign-in, catalog and trail search included.
  • Place search and routing cover Europe.
  • Nothing can be deleted through the connector. Delete backpacks and trails on this site.
  • Questions, or a connection that misbehaves: write to [email protected].
